The Community Information Centre

We provide information, literature and friendly signposting to the service, advice or help you are looking for. If we do not have the information you require we will make every effort to find out how to get it. If you want to complain about anti-social behaviour, fly tipping, street cleaning or similar, we will pass on your comments to the correct department, without needing to put your name to the report.

You can collect a free personal attack alarm or security marking pen and we have a wide variety of leaflets including bus timetables, child care details, activities around the area, support groups, news of groups and networks in the community. The window display advertises community events, concerts, residents’ groups, training opportunities, business links, community safety, health initiatives, etc. Bring along an A4 portrait-style poster if you would like your community activity to be advertised there as well, and use the free public access computer, with low-cost printing and copying facilities for community or job-search related activities. Call in and find out more about the Forum and information about the plans for the area – let us know your suggestions on how our area could be improved.

The fully equipped training room next door is available to hire at very reasonable rates to community groups.

In addition, also to be found at the CIC:

  • Hastings and Rother Credit Union - collection point 11am-12pm Tuesdays.
  • Police surgery - 11am -12pm Wednesday mornings.
  • Gensing and Central St Leonards Writers Group - 1pm-3pm Wednesdays.
  • The Pension Service - available for enquiries 10am-12pm Thursdays.
  • The office is staffed by volunteers and more people are always needed to run the shop. You don’t need to have any experience just a few hours to spare each week. We will give you all the training you need.  .

Would you like to help the Forum in your spare time?

The Forum is run by volunteers. These people give up a small amount of their spare time either to sit on the Executive Committee or to help out in the Forum's office in Silchester Road.
If you are interested in helping, or would like more details, then please contact the Forum office on 01424 438291 between 9:30am and 1:00pm weekdays, or come and visit us in the Community Information Centre at 16 Silchester Road.
