St Leonards Festival Central St Leonards is the place to be on Saturday 17th July 2010. Book the date in your diaries now, make a note on the calendar but don’t miss this fantastic family event. An exciting programme with new things to see and do this year. Along with old favourites we have new faces this year; The International Festival Market will once again take place on a vibrantly decorated Kings Road. Christ Church Guild of Bell Ringers will herald the start of the Market with a quarter peal. Then the mood will change as the ever popular Sambalanco drum their way up and down Kings Road. Clap your hands, stamp your feet and dance along, get into the Festival mood. The Market as always will offer a veritable feast for your eyes; purse; wallet and stomachs with food and goods on offer from around the world. Don’t forget to visit the local shops we have a host of interesting and specialist shops not found in town centres. Norman Road with Loves Market on the corner is well worth visiting, a browse along this road is an opportunity not to be missed. Oudenaarde Walk with its gaily coloured bunting plays host to the Community Information Stands with varied information and participative stands for your enjoyment. Warrior Square Gardens New to the gardens this year is the Open Forum Area where you will find dancers with a difference, seeing is believing picnic! and lots more. The Children’s area will feature musical instrument making workshops, film shows and other activities. On the grass beside the marquee there will be a soft play area together with traditional games. Sports Area This area run by members of Active Hastings and the Youth Development Service will encourage you to try Sumo wrestling in oversized suits or meet the ‘rowing challenge’! For the BMX/Skateboard lovers we will once again have the ‘Ramp’ where you will be able to watch the more experienced and have a go yourselves. Main Stage The main stage plays host to a multitude of local talent, leading up to Mud II who will set the mood for our TRex finale. Watch this space for weekly updates................ The Forum is run by volunteers. These people give up a small amount of their spare time either to sit on the Executive Committee or to help out in the Forum's office in Silchester Road.
