Parking

Most of Gensing ward is free parking, but a large part of Central St Leonards falls into Parking Zone K. This zone is shared with residents where free parking is limited to 2 hrs in any four hours, Mon -Sat 09:00 – 18:00. Some bays are not shared and are for one hour only. A return to the same parking bay within 2hrs of leaving will result in a fine of £50. Permits are available from the Information Centre in Queen's Square, or at Parking Services, Aquila House, Breeds Place, Hastings, TN34 3UY. Tel: 01424 451070

  • Residents' Permits [shared]: £35 per year; £56 for a second vehicle.
  • Residents' Visitors Permits: 60p for 2hrs or £2 for 5hrs. These can be added on to the free parking allowance making up to 4 or 7hrs total parking time.>

Free bus pass: Hastings has joined the English National Concessionary Travel [ENCT] Scheme.The ENCT card is free to permanent residents of Hastings and St Leonards who are over 60 or disabled, to travel free on local buses across the country after 09:00 from Monday to Friday and at any time at weekends or on public holidays. Visit the Hastings Information Centre in person to apply for an ENCT Card and provide the proof that you live in Hastings or St Leonards.

The ENCT card is not valid on rail journeys or to purchase season, express coach, excursion or similar tickets. They are not available to visitors but companions without whom a disabled person would be unable to travel can travel free within Hastings and Rother. If the journey starts in Hastings and Rother the outward leg of the journey for the companion will be free, but they may be charged for the return leg of the journey from outside the Hastings and Rother area.

There is also a free bus service from this area on Thursdays, run by Tescos

RAIL

Timetables and special offer/railcard application forms for Southern [Ashford, Brighton, London London Bridge and London Victoria] and South Eastern [Tunbridge Wells, London Cannon Street and London Charing Cross] trains are available at Warrior Square Station, or at the Community Information Centre, 16 Silchester Rd.

CYCLES

There is a cycle path on the promenade from Robertson Street to West St Leonards. Please use the cycle path where it exists and have due regard for pedestrians where space is shared.

Sustrans' Connect2 project will provide a much needed traffic-free cycleway between Hastings and Bexhill, an attractive route close to the sea and away from the busy A259. The county council is undertaking design and construction work, although the actual construction is currently scheduled for 2011. www.sustrans.org.uk

13 Old Humphrey Avenue, Hastings, TN34 3BT. HUB is affiliated to the Cyclists Touring Club and is the voice of the town's cyclists; it engages in a series of campaigns to meet their needs. It has around 80 members, who are entitled to a 10% discount on bikes and spare parts at local bike shops; monthly meetings are informal and open to all. www.hastingsurbanbikes.com
